Анотація
Статтю присвячено розвитку лідерських якостей старшокласників у контексті історії скаутського руху в США. Головну увагу приділено періоду між першою і другою світовими війнами (20-40-і рр. ХХ ст.), коли скаутинг зазнав найстрімкішого поширення. Продемонстровано зв'язок суспільно-політичної ситуації в США і в світі та форм і видів діяльності скаутської організації. Систематизовано умови, що сприяли зростанню впливу неурядової організації «Скаути США» як на загальноамериканському, так і міжнародному рівні.
The article is devoted to the development of high school students' leadership skills in the context of the Scout movement history in the United States. The main attention is paid to the period between the first and second world wars (20-40ies of the XX century), when scouting was the most widespread. This period is called the second period of the development of the Scout movement in the United States, or the period of broadening the narrow military-sports orientation. The connection of the socio-political situation in the USA and the world with forms and types of Scout organization activity is demonstrated. The conditions that contributed to the growing influence of the non-governmental organization "Scouts of the USA" on both American and international levels were systematized. On the basis of an analysis of the activities of American scout organizations, the author has made the following conclusions: 1) during the interwar period, the Scout movement became widespread in the United States and around the world; 2) the rapid dissemination of Scout ideas was facilitated by numerous events, including jamborees, conferences, expeditions organized locally, nationally and internationally; 3) the dissemination of scouting was facilitated by mass media coverage of media appealing events, as well as periodicals, booklets, methodology literature, and leaflets; 4) the organization's growing authority was facilitated by the patriotism of its members during the Second World War and the post-war period, which was manifested in various actions aimed at helping the front, overcoming the food crisis and the epidemic; 5) the success of the activities carried out by scout organizations was facilitated by the support of the local community, governments, presidents, monarchs, and the church; 6) the long-term influence of the Scout movement was promoted by a multilevel management system.
