Анотація
Стаття присвячено розгляду проблеми міжкультурної свідомості, яка є результатом формування полікультурної мовної особистості в іншомовній освіті. Мета статті полягаю в розкритті сутності зв'язку міжкультурної свідомості та полікультурної мовної особистості майбутніх учителів іноземних мов; у наданні визначень поняттям «свідомість», «полікультурна свідомість»; у дослідженні процесу її формування на заняттях з іноземних мов та виокремленні відповідних етапів. Результати проведеного дослідження дають можливість зробити висновок, що формування міжкультурної свідомості полягаю в усвідомленні мови й культури та трансформації мислення по відношення до іншої мови як феномену іншої культури.
The article is dedicated to the issues of intercultural consciousness, which is defined as the consequence of the formation of a polycultural linguistic personality in foreign language education. The purpose of the article is to reveal the essence of the connection between the intercultural consciousness and the multicultural linguistic personality; defining the concepts “consciousness”, “multicultural consciousness”; investigating the process of its formation during foreign language lessons and distinguishing the appropriate stages. Theoretical and comparative analysis of scientific literature in order to reveal the state of development of the investigated problem was the dominant methods of research. Consciousness is the acquired quality of personality and social system of knowledge, fixed in the language. Therefore language as a cultural phenomenon in such case appears as the means of forming the consciousness and mentality of the linguistic personality, as well as an indicator of the level of its formation. Multicultural consciousness is the ability of the person to perceive, understand and comprehend the phenomena of the multicultural world that based on self-awareness of the subject of culture through the unity of representations and knowledge about the peculiarity of cultures, systems of their values, necessary for interaction with representatives of other nationalities, solving professional problems in terms of intercultural interaction relying on cooperation and tolerant behavior. Formation of polycultural consciousness involves six stages of personality development that reflect the linguistic personality relation to the differences between native and non-native cultures, namely: 1) the stage of denying intercultural differences; 2) the stage of rejecting intercultural differences; 3) the stage of minimizing intercultural differences; 4) the stage of recognizing intercultural differences with awareness of the difference in the behavior and worldview of other culture representatives, but without any assessment; 5) the stage of adaptation to intercultural differences; 6) the stage of integration of intercultural differences. The results of the conducted research give an opportunity to conclude, that formation of intercultural consciousness means realizing cultural language and awareness as well as transformation of mentality in relation to another language as a phenomenon of another culture. Intercultural consciousness within the educational space is formed in the process of studying foreign languages and cultures. It is one of the indicators of a polycultural linguistic personality. An appropriate scientifically substantiated model, the development of which is a promising direction of further research is required for the efficient level of formation of the intercultural consciousness of future foreign languages teachers.
